MUBU is a tangible installation for children; it is thought to be realized in Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio, a square known as the favourite playground of Venetian kids.

Children play with four different creatures which emitt a range of pentatonic sounds that can be mixed in various sound patterns. MUBU are suspended from the red wooden pole in the middle of the campo. They can be pulled down to be fed with their favourite food.

Food, in fact, makes MUBU happy: when sated they sing on all their way back to their resting position. Bad food, instead, is refused through opposing magnetic forces. Musical patterns created during the day are randomly, shortly and softly played again at night as passers-by make any sound near MUBU.

In our vision, we focused on children and the possibility of giving them an attractive and ludic sound experience during the day; however we aimed to keep a delicate track of such joy also during silent Venetian nights.
