Magazzini del Sale

The first inspiration for StormRaiser came from the intrinsic environmental features.
Magazzini del Sale is a huge old salt warehouse situated in the historical city centre of Venice.
The roof is about 8 meters high and all the ceiling is full of diagonal rafters that follow the shore alignment.
We decided to use the ceiling as the vertical space immediately appeared to be particuarly relevant.
We worked on group interactions instead of individual experiences. Therefore we designed our project to have a system output generated by many different individuals’ inputs.
In our design the environment is not seen as a passive element, but it gives the idea of a breathing entity, which has fun as people do so.

This is an interactive installation involving a group of people (not just one by one). The interaction will grow proportionally as more people participate. The environment follows the natural rythm of the happening: it gets excited when people are really involved in dancing and calms down if the people chill out.
