We imagined a hypothetical Venice in which almost all the city has been converted into a multidisciplinary campus with highly advanced laboratories financed by the State, the faculties, local and international industries: the Marco Polo Multiversity.
Thesis students are given a boat where they can live during the research period until the final presentation. The boat can be freely docked to any other university lab or congress hall in the city according to the resources needed to fulfill the current development task. To develop their projects the thesis students (Captains in the system) must also collaborate with other students, often coming from several different faculties in the campus. The system allows a Captain to plan his or her thesis project and hire the crew necessary to finish the thesis project, step by step, task by task.
