User
Our main users are tourists who are tired or don’t care for traditional travel information. They know where the main sights are in the city and are far more interested in unusual and uncommon sights and experiences.
Any tourist who matches the description above can use the application but it’s aimed at young tourists who usually travel by themselves and can be enthusiastic about getting purposely lost. People who don’t know what one likes shouldn’t script how to get to know a place.
Stakeholders
People who might be affected by our application include:
- Venetians who make a living out of tourism in the city
- An alternative form of tourism might affect tourists not using the service. Seeing fellow tourists perform in different ways might lead them to question what they are doing.
- Organizations that coordinate and advertise tourist packages
- The Venice municipality
- Organizations coordinating cultural events
Goals
Allows users to:
- Get lost deliberately
- Find unexpected things
- Share what they find
- Have access to other people’s experiences
- Meet people who are exploring the same paths
Criteria for success
The application has been successful if:
The user can successfully discover a city on his or her own terms. Without predictable and uninspired maps or guided tours.
A range of interpretations and experiences can be found in each spot proving how diverse and imaginative people can be, showing how inspiration can change from person to person despite being drawn from the same source.
The application allows users to stumble upon unexpected things and leave and share memories. This way a more personal and reflective form of tourism can be promoted. If our application is successful this alternative can allow users to be freer in their encounters and how they deal with them.
