… Critical Reflection

What went well

We generated a concept that was convincing and engaging. It was difficult initially to get to this point because we couldn’t figure out what the overall purpose of the application was. From the start we figured out a broad aspect but had a hard time defining it. We were able eventually to define the application and its functions.

The first ideas were complicated and somewhat boring, but at the end we were able to strip down the project to a simple and functional application. These initial complications also made us drift away and end up in not so positive situations. We had problems with the graphics especially because of this but we managed to resolve this in a satisfactory way. The final graphics were on the dot with our mood and intentions.

The application invites the user to wander around and motivates him or her to stumble upon unexpected things and record them. The general aspect of looking for things that are invisible at first and later being able to discover them in an unfashionable manner is appealing. It is promising how a community of people can emerge by sharing common experiences viewed from diverse perspectives. In this sense the application manages to create a potential framework of intangible things left behind in invisible spaces that can be access by anyone.

Room for improvement

Some areas of the project could have been developed deeper. Probably the area that could have been benefited from this the most was the code. We were able to create a successful prototype for the computer but had difficulties creating a complete prototype for the phone, and only a part of the prototype was successfully generated in the phone. This obstacle didn’t allow us to try some features that could have enriched the experience such as using the vibration of the phone, the compass and the GPS.

An area that has potential but that was little explored is what happens when users meet. The social part of the application has been left untapped. A wide range of interactions could have been developed for these meetings such as motivating the users to interact with each other for achieving a common goal. We started to look into this part of the application but was left behind after moving forward with other aspects.
