Components

Each stelo contains a flex sensor and a strip of three ultra bright LEDs.
The box contains the actual instrument (either the glockenspiel or the vibraphone), a computer connected to an Arduino board, speakers and a microphone.

Telecommunications

When a stelo is bent, a flex sensor gets activated and sends its value, through the Arduino board, to the computer. A solenoid is then activated to hit its relative metal plate to make a sound. The solenoid voltage will be regulated according to the flex sensor value.
At the same time, a message is sent to the second computer through wi-fi connection. It communicates which flex sensor has been played and how much that has been bent.
The second computer turns on the LEDs corresponding to those notes in harmony with the note played on the opposite side. It also reproduces that note, with the same volume, through the speakers. However, this sound is filtered with a reverberation effect, regulated according to the value returned by a microphone that detects the wind.
