… how to use it

When someone bends a blade

…a note is played on an actual instrument (either a glockenspiel or a vibraphone, depending on which one of the installations is being used).

That sound is reproduced on the opposite side, where it is an electronical sound played by a computer and filtered with a reverberation effect.

At the same time, on the opposite side, some blades will turn on. It is a suggestion, for the second player, about which notes are in harmony with the one played by the other user.

A microphone on each side detects the wind.

If the wind blows towards the twin installation, the sound will be reproduced on that side without reverberation, as if the wind was carrying the music from side to side.

In this case for instance, the music played by the first user is reproduced on the opposite side as clear sounds.

On the other hand, since the wind direction is contrary, the music played by the second user will be filtered with reverberation when reproduced on the first side.

Steli is an instrument that can be actively played by users during both day and night. Not only that, Steli has also been conceived as a passive instrument to be played by the wind so as to catch people’s attention.
