EDUCATION

2001
• Scientific High School diploma, Siena.

2005
• Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English, CAE (grade B)
• Undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences (programme in Communication Technologies) at University of Siena.

2006
• 1 year Master in Communication Environments Design at Arsnova / University of Siena.

Currently
• Graduate degree in Visual and Multimedia Communication, specialising in Interaction Design, at IUAV University of Venice. I am finishing my second (final) year and will start my thesis project in September 2008.

EXPERIENCE

• I had an internship (Dec 2004-Jan 2005) at DeepBlue consultancy in Rome. I worked in the Human Factors team at the Experimental Centre of ENAV (Italian Air Traffic Control agency). I took part to the Mediterranean Free Flight project to monitor, during flight simulations, pilots’ interaction with an experimental flight instrument.

• My undergraduate thesis with Professor Antonio Rizzo, based on my internship, was on “The redesign of the experimental flight instrument Cockpit Display of Traffic Information” used in the Mediterranean Free Flight project. [more infos on my thesis]

• During my Master I worked in a team project, with external collaborations from Domus Academy in Milan, to design wireless interactive services in public spaces for the Municipality of Monteroni D’Arbia (Siena). I experienced the difficulties that may arise when working with an institutional partner and learnt to plan and manage a more structured design process. I participated in the international workshop Siena Design Project 2006 to present the final project.

• My strengths are in user studies, activity analysis and concept generation. I feel very comfortable planning and managing a team’s design process. I am experienced with Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, and have made prototypes using Processing. I can do simple programming in Processing.

• I am interested in cognitive ergonomics; I would like to design for social equity and I believe in the possibility of changing today’s interaction behaviour models.

llthumb.png Library Lounge, (PDF file, 2MB) 2006: seven months team project (with Marina Camara, Marco Caselli, Roberto Cisco, Maurizio Nesti) focusing on the urban fabric of Monteroni d’Arbia (Tuscany, Italy). We designed an adaptive space enhanced by digital technologies to extend a public library to the outdoors. Interactive devices in lounge areas supported individual and collective activities: through RFID tagged books, extra information from the web and previous users could be shared, downloaded, edited in order to increase the cultural experience and expand the community knowledge.

hac_projecticon_80×80.png Hacktion, 2007: team project (with Marina Camara and Martina Pagura) to design a mobile service for improvised satiric sketches in the streets of Venice. We designed and prototyped an application to help people discuss and arrange ‘out of nowhere’ public performances on contemporary issues.
