EDUCATION
• Scientific High School diploma, Siena.
• Undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences (Communication Technologies programme) at University of Siena.
• 1-year Masters in Communication Environments Design at Arsnova / University of Siena.
• Graduate degree in Visual and Multimedia Communication (Interaction Design programme) at IUAV University of Venice.
EXPERIENCE
• Intern (Aug 2008–Oct 2008) at Area/code game design company in New York. Game design, look and feel proposals, video presentations, research works in various projects for international clients (Endemol, MTV, FremantleMedia, UK Department for Transport, etc.). My graduate thesis, Greengrowers: A location-based game for the city of Venice, was based on my internship.
• Workshop (May 2008) on pervasive gaming at Fabrica in Treviso. Design of an intervention around undefined, invisible territories. Directed by Kevin Slavin (Area/code, New York).
• Project (Jan 2006–Aug 2006) for the Local Council of Monteroni D’Arbia (Tuscany, Italy). Design and prototyping of wireless interactive services in public spaces for a 7,000-inhabitant town. I worked in a team with external collaborations from Domus Academy in Milan; I experienced the difficulties that may arise when working with an institutional partner and learnt to plan and manage a more structured design process. The project was presented during the international workshop Siena Design Project 2006.
• Intern (Dec 2004–Jan 2005) at DeepBlue consultancy in Rome. Member of the Human Factors team working for ENAV (Italian Air Traffic Control Agency) in the Mediterranean Free Flight project. Observations, interviews and briefs to evaluate an experimental flight instrument in the flight simulators at the ENAV Experimental Centre. My undergraduate thesis, The Redesign of the Experimental Flight Instrument Cockpit Display of Traffic Information, was based on this internship.
SKILLS
My undergraduate degree in communication science, with a strong emphasis on human factors, has given me strengths in user studies, activity analysis which has underpinned my work at IUAV. I enjoy concept generation and feel very comfortable planning and managing the design process and working in multi-disciplinary teams.
I have good experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Final Cut and I am developing my skills in After Effects. I can do simple programming and have made prototypes in Processing. I have basic skills in Flash, Dreamweaver and Cinema 4D.
I have a strong interest in user experience and the cognitive aspects of interaction. I am now focusing on new forms of play using digital technologies (location-based/pervasive/ubiquitous games).
